January 4, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – According to recent reports, a significant proportion of frontline workers in hospitals and nursing homes refuse to take a COVID-19 vaccine, despite a major effort by the political body to make the vaccines look safe and reliable . .
A Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF)’s report showed that 29% of hospital staff “definitely or probably will not be vaccinated”, while the number is only 27% among the general public. According to the KFF, the main reason mentioned among those who would refuse the vaccine is concern about the side effects (59%).
More than half of the same group were also concerned about the safety, urgency and politicization of vaccine development (55%, 53% and 51% respectively).
Quite a few hospitals and clinics say there is an even larger proportion of their healthcare staff who take a stand against vaccination.
In Northern California, less than half of the eligible staff in the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital took the vaccine when it was offered Los Angeles Times report. Public health records in LA show that between 20% and 40% of all frontline workers also refused to be vaccinated. Riverside County, California, reported that about 50% of their frontline employees turned down the chance to receive a vaccine.
The Los Angeles Times also reported that a nurse from Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, herself six months pregnant, refused to be vaccinated on the grounds that the vaccine may be unsafe for pregnant women.
The British government issued a document in December recommending that pregnant or breastfeeding women not receive a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, on the grounds that there are ‘no or limited data’ on the consequences for the child and for fertility.
“For women of childbearing potential, pregnancy should be excluded before vaccination,” the document said, with further advice that pregnancy should be avoided for the first two months after receiving COVID-19 shots.
Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine told a news conference on Dec. 30 that 60 percent of nursing home staff in his state did not take the vaccine after it was presented. Although the governor promised not to “take the vaccine”, he expressed his wish that “they have a higher compliance.”

Firefighters in New York City also said they were not prepared to take a COVID vaccine. More than half of the 2,000 members of the Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) in New York would refuse the vaccine if it were offered.
