Nurse (22), criticism after hammer attack by ex | Local news

A 22-year-old nurse has remained in critical condition at San Fernando General Hospital on Monday after being hit with a hammer by a former boyfriend.

Jada Pierre, a geriatric nurse from Siparia, was attacked and beaten in the head on Friday afternoon.

Pierre’s stepfather, Allan Pierre, spoke to reporters at his home in Siparia yesterday.

He said the attack on his stepdaughter took place shortly after he left the house.

He said she was found with a head injury near the forest reserve in Fyzabad by a driver.

Allan Pierre said he and Pierre’s mother left the house around 2.45pm on Friday.

He said: “Before we left, she told me she was going to Ziparia to get something to eat. Within half an hour after we left her at home, we called someone in the area to say that they had just found her through the field road with scars on her head. ‘

Pierre was taken to the Siparia Health Facility and then transferred to San Fernando General Hospital.

At the hospital, she told her mother an ex-boyfriend saw her along the dirt road near Sanderson Park and offered her an elevator in his car.

While in the car, he asked them to get back together.

Police were told he was angry and asked her to drive.

As she climbed into the driver ‘s seat, the man hit her several times with a hammer in the head and then threw her out of the car before driving away.

Allan Pierre said his daughter has had a recurring relationship with the man over the past eight years.

He said: ‘They have known each other since school days and this is the only person we knew as her boyfriend. He came here that day and made lime. He looked like an ordinary man. He was a very quiet man. He never showed violent tendencies. ”

‘I do not know what

went wrong ‘

Pierre’s stepfather did not think she was in any danger.

He said people made up and broke up as a normal part of life.

Pierre said Jada rarely shared information about her relationship.

He said: ‘I have never seen them have big arguments, but like any relationship there would be a dropout here and there. I do not know what went wrong in his head to achieve this. ”

Pierre said doctors at the hospital underwent surgery on Jada yesterday morning.

He did not know what kind of surgery was done, but was grateful that his stepdaughter was still alive.

Last Friday, high school teacher Suzette Sylvester was found in her home, beaten to death.

Her killer used a hammer.

Her husband, loan officer Kurt Sylvester, is charged with her murder and appeared before a magistrate in Couva on Friday.
