Nueces County Judge responds to huge increase in new COVID-19 cases

NUECES COUNTY, Texas – Judge Barbara Canales of Nueces County has issued a statement after local health officials announced more than four hundred new COVID-19 cases.

The Nueces County Public Health District reported 438 new COVID-19 cases Thursday night. Judge Canales said the number of new cases was worrying news.

“We are analyzing the data to see if we should act to limit local outbreaks, and to see if any deviations that report have contributed to this sharp increase in one day in cases. We can not consider this a deviation. not – we have to consider it an urgent warning, especially because of the holiday events that are taking place now, ”said Canales.

She added local doctors are assessing their ability to respond to a sustained increase in the number of positive cases. The judge of Nueces County said she would be proactive in seeking help from the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) if officials expected a resurgence in hospitalizations based on the resurgence of positive cases.

Canales said: “I urge all residents of Nueces County to take all precautions to reduce the chance of exposure to the coronavirus. And while we’re talking about exercising the 3 Ws – wearing a mask “Wash your hands, look at your distance – it’s important to follow all the precautions recommended by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
