I know big and screaming game phones are not everyone’s cup of tea, but you should still appreciate it when a company puts everything in their pocket. It is exactly what Nubia did with the new Red Magic 6.

The Red Magic’s base model includes a large, 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 165Hz and a resolution of 2400 x 1080, along with a Snapdragon 888 chip, 8 GB or 12 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB storage, depending on your configuration . Nubia even increased the Red Magic’s sampling rate with multi-finger touch to 360Hz to ensure that competitive mobile gamers get the most responsive input possible, while also including touch-sensitive triggers on the edge of the phone.

Nubia calls the Red Magic’s in-your-face design Mecha Sci-Fi, which sounds about right. The the phone looks like it’s naturally in a Gundam episode. There’s also a 64 MP main camera that is complemented by an 8 MP ultra-wide cam and a 2 MP macro cam, with Nubia even throwing a range of cyber-inspired filters.

Nubia offers a lot of software customizations, such as Tencent’s Mobile Game Accelerator and Solar Core Engine, in addition to Red Magic’s RAM Boost and Frame Optimization 2.0 for extra sharp performance. And just in case it’s not enough, Nubia said the Red Magic 6 has a multidimensional cooling system that uses 13 temperature sensors, an air duct, thermal gel, graphene, and more to keep the phone from overheating. There is even a clip-on fan, which to me looks like an excessive look, but I think you can aever have enough cooling.

Lastly, the Red Magic 6 comes with a 5,050 mAh battery, a headphone jack and a 65 watt charger. But again, this is just the standard model. If you move up to the Red Magic 6 Pro, you get 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM, a faster cooling fan, 120 watt charge and a bonus aluminum heat plate. Unfortunately, the total capacity on the Red Magic 6 Pro drops due to the plate, leaving it with a 4500 mAh power pack.

But the real Mechazord is the Red Magic 6 “Dao” edition, with a see-through back with an RGB fan and a whopping 18GB of RAM, which is probably more to brag about than any kind of tangible performance bump. There are also a few more obvious Tencent brands so you do not forget who helped you work on the device.

TThe Red Magic 6 costs between 3,800 yuan (about $ 585) for the base model to 6600 yuan (about $ 1,015) for the fully loaded Dao version with 18 GB RAM. But if you live outside China and are If you’re serious about it, you might want to postpone it for another ten days, as Nubia has a global launch event for the Red Magic 6 scheduled for March 16th.
