North Carolina’s latest county color chart shows 27 counties in the red as trends move in the right direction

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services updated the COVID-19 County Alert System on Monday.

The latest map shows that 27 provinces are currently in the red – a decrease of 61 red provinces compared to the previous report.

This is the least number of red counties in the state since the inception of the County Alert System.

“With North Carolina continuing to follow the 3Ws and more than one million people in the state receiving at least a first dose of vaccine, we are slowing the spread and saving lives,” said NCDHHS Secretary Mandy K. Cohen, MD , said. it up. ‘

The update also includes a list of 40 orange provinces and 33 yellow provinces – both changing from 33 orange provinces and 6 yellow provinces on February 4th.

NCDHHS said in a news release that while the key metrics in North Carolina are still high, it is moving in a positive direction with declining trends in the number of COVID-19 cases reported each day, people with COVID-19 admitted, people in the intensive care unit and the percentage of tests that are positive.

Health officials said people in all provinces should continue to restrict public interactions to essential activities, avoid meeting with others from outside their household and continue to comply with the 3Ws.

Red and orange provinces need to do even more to slow down the spread of COVID-19 in their communities; it is strongly recommended that these provinces go further and build on the current requirements set out in the County Alert System.

The COVID-19 County Alert System uses COVID-19 cases, the percentage of tests that are positive and the hospital impact in the country to categorize provinces into the following levels:
Yellow: significant spread of the community
Orange: significant distribution of the community
Red: Critical Community Distribution
