There are both official and unofficial updates from Nokia to share this weekend. First the official news: Nokia’s brand owner HMD Global has announced a launch event for April 8, when we’ll presumably get a look at its next premium smartphone.
The invitation to the event uses the hashtag #LoveTrustKeep and has an image of a man staring at a canopy of trees. We are not sure if we can get anything out of the clues about what is in store, but feel free to use your own imagination.
We recently did not get too far away from Nokia rumors, but one possibility for the launch at this event is the Nokia 10 – the long-awaited successor to the phones with the highest specifications currently in the Nokia range, Nokia 8.3 5G. and the Nokia 9 Pureview.
NokiaPowerUser has some interesting inside information that may be relevant here: its sources report that a new Nokia phone is on the way with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 775 processor on board and a 108MP primary camera as one of the five cameras which is attached to the back.
What’s in a name?
NokiaPowerUser points out that the Nokia G10 name has been submitted in registrations, and that Nokia’s rather lengthy naming strategy for its smartphones can definitely use a nice, clean recharge.
More details revealed in the leak suggest support for 4K / 60 fps video recording, 5G on board and compatibility with the latest Wi-Fi 6E networks and devices. It seems like we’re looking at a mid-range premium phone here.
None of this is guaranteed yet, and we heard earlier that Nokia is preparing a mobile phone powered by the Snapdragon 875 processor, which is now announced and available as Snapdragon 888. It is possible that there are different models in the pipeline .
However, something is coming up on April 8th, whether it’s the Nokia G10, a flagship phone with a different name, or neither of the two options. We will no doubt hear some more rumors and predictions about what lies ahead between now and then.
