HMD Global, with its Nokia brand, is one of the only mainstream companies still offering Android Go smartphones. The latest Nokia 1.4, which offers a seemingly decent experience without costing an arm and a leg, expands further.
The Nokia 1.4 is an entry-level smartphone, and a brief look at the internal products makes it pretty obvious. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 SoC, which is paired with up to 3 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of storage. The storage can be further expanded via a microSD card.
The HD + screen measures 6.51 inches and should provide a decent media consumption experience. Since you are a budget phone, there is no hole here. Instead, it has a water drop notch that houses the 5MP selfie camera. The rear camera setup consists of an 8MP wide and 2MP macro, and with the Camera Go app you can take portraits and HDR images with it.
The Nokia 1.4 is offered on Android 10 Go Edition, which is customized for entry-level hardware. Unfortunately, since most cheap Nokia phones usually only get one Android update, we would be a little surprised if the phone does get Android 12 in the future. However, the company guarantees three years of security updates.
The entry-level phone costs € 99 and is reportedly available ‘worldwide’ from 3 February.
