The pieces were posted with a caption that originally read: “Inspired by the new game. You know what I’m talking about …” After this week’s distribution, some fans and media speculate that the ‘new game’ is an unannounced Naughty Dog project. However, Nam told IGN: ‘The illustration is not for ND’s next new game’, adding that this fan art was inspired by and made while the artist was playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (self released last November).
Nam has now updated the caption to make the connection with Valhalla clear. While some are likely to be sad – a dragon-killing-medieval-shamanistic Naughty Dog fantasy game actually sounds pretty awesome – let’s focus on the fact that Nam’s fan base was so cool, it’s made people briefly suggest a new game . It feels in itself like an artistic achievement. It’s also worth checking out Nam’s broader portfolio on Artstation – especially if you’re interested in the many characters of the early, picturesque The Last of Us Part 2.
As for the naughty dog actually has for us next, it’s hard to say. We know that no DLC is planned for The Last of Us Part 2, but that there may still be a standalone multiplayer mode in the vein of the first game’s Factions. Whatever it is, Naughty Dog has the increase with Neil Druckmann, co-president of the studio, said, “Come work with us! We’re making something really cool!”
There’s also the small issue of HBO’s Last of Us TV show, which now has a series order, and a new director.
