NJ reports 20 COVID deaths, 2,201 cases. Set the top 2.5M vaccine doses administered.

Health officials in New Jersey on Monday reported another 2,201 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 20 additional confirmed deaths, as the total number of vaccines administered was more than 2.5 million.

“We just crossed the 2 million mark just a week ago today. In seven days, we delivered another 500,000 shots into the arms of New Jerseyans, ‘said Gov. Phil Murphy. ‘It took us three weeks to take from 1 million to 2 million photos. We are on course to beat even the faster pace and then some. Furthermore, our six mega sites have now administered the threshold of 500,000 total doses. “

The latest update on the vaccination effort contains approximately 1.65 million first doses and 861,000 second doses. Vaccines around New Jersey began administering the one-vaccine Johnson & Johnson vaccine last week. In addition, the Centers for Disease Control announced Monday that fully vaccinated Americans can contract indoors with other vaccinated individuals without wearing a mask or social distance.

New Jersey has received more than 3.07 million doses, according to a current count by the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The state’s goal is to vaccinate 70% of its adult population – about 4.7 million people – within the next few months.

The seven-day average for newly confirmed positive tests decreased to 2,717, down 4% from a week ago and up 9% from a month ago.

The nationwide transmission rate remained stable for the third day. Any number of more than 1 indicates that the outbreak is growing, with each new case having at least one other case. The rate was weeks lower than 1 before rising above the mark on Thursday.

The positivity rate for tests available on Thursday, the latest day, was 7.13%, based on 43,025 tests.

There were 1,786 patients admitted to the hospital with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 in the state Sunday night, according to the state’s dashboard, the lowest since early November.

In total, New Jersey has now reported 722,997 confirmed coronavirus cases from more than 10.9 million PCR tests in the year since the state reported the first case on March 4, 2020. There were also 91919 positive antigen tests. These cases are considered likely, and health officials have warned that positive antigen tests may overlap with the confirmed PCR tests, as they are sometimes given at the same time.

There have been 134 confirmed cases of the more contagious variant first identified in the UK and two cases of the variant first identified in Brazil.

The state of 9 million people reported 23,590 residents died from complications related to COVID-19, including 21,193 confirmed deaths and 2,397 deaths considered probable.

New Jersey is preparing to significantly expand vaccine admission in the coming weeks, with transportation workers on March 15 and several other essential workers, including restaurant workers, on March 29. The state is also adding 11 preconditions to the March 29 list.
