There are currently no plans for a “Nioh 3, ”But Nioh series director Fumihiko Yasuda would like to return at some point in the future, he told The Gamer in a recently published interview.
Possibility of a Nioh 3
‘In terms of a sequel at the moment, [Nioh series developer] Team Ninja would like to focus on working on new titles, so there is no plan for that Nioh 3 at this stage, ”Yasuda said. ‘But after creating some new projects and gaining new experience and skills from the new potential projects, I want to go back to the series at some point, using all the experience and new skills we have from some new projects pick up, and then possibly go back into the series at that point and create an even bigger game around Nioh and Nioh 2 and to create something better. ”
The Nioh series is currently only available on PlayStation 4 and PC, and will be available for PlayStation 5 along with the Nioh Collection must accompany the computer version of Nioh 2 on February 5th. But the series is not available on Xbox, and there are no current plans to bring it to the platform, Yasuda told Video Games Chronicle.
‘There are no current plans for the Nioh series to be on Xbox consoles at this point, ‘Yasuda said laughing,’ but of course the Ninja Gaiden series has had a long history on Microsoft’s consoles. So if there is a new title in the Ninja Gaiden series in the future, we definitely want it to be on Xbox consoles. ”
It should be noted that PlayStation producer Sony Interactive Entertainment is the publisher of the Nioh series in North America and Europe, and was responsible for QA testing, global localization and marketing, and other areas.
Ninja Gaiden News coming soon
Speaking of the Ninja Gaiden series, Yasuda told The Gamer to pay attention to news about the series in the “near future”.
‘Nothing to specifically announce or notice this time, but if the Ninja Gaiden series did not exist, then there would be no Nioh series, ”Yasuda said. ‘This is a very important series for Team Ninja. Although we have nothing specific to announce at the moment, I would like to say, just look forward to potential news for an announcement in the near future. ”
The developer teased again Ninja Gaiden when asked about the series protagonist Ryu Hayabusa.
“Yeah, so that character is the most important character out of all our franchises,” Yasuda said. “Since he is so important, I would definitely like him to appear in a match again soon, and I would like to reveal details about that as soon as possible.”
Back in September 2020, the distributor of Game Source Entertainment in Hong Kong had a “Ninja Gaiden TrilogyFor PlayStation 4 and Switch. According to the description, this includes Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, en Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. Publisher Koei Tecmo has not yet commented on whether the accuracy of the listing has been confirmed.
Next generation consoles
Yasuda also touched on the latest generation of consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Having already worked on PlayStation 5 with the upcoming release of Nioh Collection, Mention Yasuda improvements with the SSD and faster charging times than notable upgrades. “I would like to tackle an open world style game in the future,” he said. “It’s definitely something I think this new hardware gives us the opportunity to try out.”

But we feel at this point that there have not been really open world games with a lot of intensity, which is really action-packed from start to finish. So we actually want to take it as a potential challenge in the future and try to make a new twist to the open world genre in this regard. ”
Nioh Collection, as well as Nioh Remastered – Full Edition and Nioh 2 Remastered – Full Edition, will be released worldwide for PlayStation 5 on February 5th. Owners of Nioh or Nioh 2 for PlayStation 4 receives a free upgrade to the Remastered version.
