Nintendo website possibly refers to the existence of Challenger Pack 12 to the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

With Pyra & Mythra now available as part of the Challenger Pack 9, there are now only two characters from the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 yet to be revealed and released. At the moment it is unknown if there is a Fighters Pass Vol. 3 or any other additional content for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after the release of these last two fighters. Based on what Masahiro Sakurai has said on the subject in the past, it does not seem very likely at first glance.

However, fans have recently discovered something interesting on the Australian Nintendo website that suggests that there is some sort of content coming after Challenger Pack 11, the final DLC package for Fighters Pass Vol. 2. PapaGenos recently released a video covering the details behind this rumor, based on the discovery RiuBert made in a Reddit thread.

By replacing the last five digits in the numeric portion of the URL – “700500000xxxxx” with “08502”, users can find themselves on the Joker Challenger Pack page. Typing 08503, 08504, 08505 and 08506 into the URL will direct a user to the pages Hero Challenger Pack, Banjo & Kazooie Challenger Pack, Terry Bogard Challenger Pack and Byleth Challenger Pack respectively.

All content for the first Fighters Pass is ordered on the website in the same way. It is also worth mentioning that the Piranha Plant page and Rex Mii costume pages are on 08501 and 08507 respectively.

Similarly, Fighters Pass Vol. 2 characters can be found using this method. Min Min is 18967, Steve 18968, Sephiroth 18969 and Pyra & Mythra 18970. Challenger Pack 10 and Challenger Pack 11 are listed as 18971 and 18972, but details about the characters’ identities can not yet be found on the website.

As with the Rex Mii costume, the bonus content associated with acquiring the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, the Ancient Helm & Gear Mii costume set from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is listed after the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 challengers. What is noticeable here is that the numeric part of the URL as ‘70050000018974’, and not ‘70050000018973.’ There is indeed a gap between the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 characters and the bonus Ancient Helmet & Gear Mii costume set.

Although there are people who speculate that this is a kind of “bonus character” for Super Smash Bros. It could be Ultimate (something similar to the Piranha plant), it could also be another Mii costume, or even nothing.

It is worth noting that the Mii costumes that are part of the Mii costume waves 1-9 for Super Smash Bros.Ultimate separately from the content of the first Fighters Pass and Fighters Pass Vol. 2.

Nintendo has a history of unannounced content for Super Smash Bros. in the past. Ultimate. We were able to learn that Smash would receive Ultimate Castlevania content in the base game, and a SNK representative for Challenger Pack 4 as a result.

However, if we were to take Masahiro Sakurai’s words at face value, it would be better to have no additional DLC after completing the Fighters Pass Vol. 2.

Masahiro Sakurai has said several times that Super Smash Bros.Ultimate’s DLC development will end after the release of the Fighters Pass 2 content. “There are only five DLC fighters left,” Sakurai said during a Famitsu column released in July 2020, following Min Min’s unveiling. “Once released, Smash’s ongoing development for the 3DS and the Wii U will finally come to an end.”

This was apparently reaffirmed during the video presentation “Mr. Sakurai Presents Pyra & Mythra” that preceded the release of Challenger Pack 9. “There are only two DLC fighters left,” Sakurai said. “That means there are only two opportunities left to give you such videos.”

For now, the safest way to ingest this rumor is simply with a grain of salt. Although more content for Super Smash Bros.Ultimate is within the possibility of the game’s sales, it’s important to temper expectations when nothing is actually planned.
