Earlier this week, Nintendo fans took a closer look at the new two-minute version Bowser’s Fury addition in the Switch version of Super Mario 3D World. Since then, we’re all wondering why Bowser is so crazy.
Nintendo’s UK website has now revealed how he was actually infected by a ‘mysterious black goop’ that required Mario and his unlikely companion (Bowser Jr.) to travel across a series of islands on Lapcat Lake.
Together, they must collect the Cat Shines, harness their power, and stop this new “frightening” form of Bowser.
Something bad happened to Bowser. He is infected by a mysterious black goop, which turns him into an enormous monster prone to total destruction!
It depends on Mario and an unlikely companion to travel across a series of islands on Lake Lapcat, collect the mysterious Cat Shines by performing various platform challenges and harness their power to stop the terrifying Fury Bowser.
With the transformation of his dad, Bowser Jr. ‘s only hope to save his father from his greatest enemy. The young prince goes with Mario in search of the Koopa Clown Car, and he copies all his movements, helps him take out enemies, and reveals power-ups and other secrets that can help you.
Give a Joy-Con to a friend and play in a local cooperative, with one player taking direct control of the little ticks to help you hunt the Cat Shines.
When playing through this add-on content, keep an eye on the “Fury Sun”. If the weather changes – you better watch out!
If you search the Cat Shines high and low, the Fury Sun will slowly rise from the lake, near the island you are currently on.
If the weather suddenly changes from sunny to stormy, it’s time to move on, because Fury Bowser is almost there! As soon as he emerges from the Fury Sun, he summons meteors from the sky and fires at you with fiery beams – so take cover!
Once you have collected all the Cat Shines, you will be able to take on Bowser as Giga Cat Mario:
While you can await the devastation, you are not completely helpless. Once you have collected five Cat Shines on an island, it’s time to activate the amazing power of the Giga Bell! This giant Super Bell turns Mario into Giga Cat Mario, meaning he can fight Fury Bowser in a true titanic battle.
Defeat Fury Bowser in your massive cat form, and he’s flown back into the water and unlock new islands you can discover. Do not spend too much time celebrating your victory, because he will come back …
