Nintendo continues to boost UK game stores UK Boxed Charts

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is once again no. 1

Animal Crossing: New Horizons achieves its third consecutive no. 1 in the British top maps.

The Nintendo Switch-exclusive spot achieves its place at the top despite a 24% drop week-on-week. This is another week where Switch has dominated the boxing game business in the UK, with Mario Kart 8: Deluxe at number 2 (sales 23%), Super Mario 3D World at number 8 (sales 3%), New Super Mario Bros U at number 9 (sales with 15%), and Ring Fit Adventure at number 10 (with 37%). There are ten Switch games in the top 20 best-selling games.

Ubisoft’s Just Dance 2021 holds number 3 despite a 29% drop in sales. This week, 87% of the game’s sales were on Nintendo Switch.

Switch appears to be the savior for retailers in the UK. For the first two weeks of 2021, game sales increased by 27.4% compared to the same period last year, and this is almost entirely due to games for Nintendo Switch (overall Switch games sales are 120% whore). PlayStation game sales are also slightly higher when we combine PS4 and PS5 sales together.

The only game in the Top Ten that increased week-on-week in sales was the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto 5, which rose four places to number 4 due to a 6% sales increase.

There’s only one new game in the cards this week, and it’s the first new game to beat the Top 40 of 2021. Five Nights At Freddy’s: Core Collection makes No.32, published by Maximum Games. 55% of its sales were on Nintendo Switch, 24% on PS4 and 21% on Xbox One.
