Nintendo announces February NES and SNES Switch online titles

Nintendo has just announced the next set of retro games in the Nintendo Switch Online service – keep up to date with all their news here.

Released on February 17 as part of Nintendo’s monthly subscription service, players will soon be able to download the SNES titles Doomsday Warrior, Psycho Dream, Prehistoric Man and the NES title Fire ‘n Ice.

Doomsday Warrior gives players the task of saving the earth from a threatening group of superhuman warriors in an SNES fighting game in the early 1990s. In Psycho Dream, you can take control of Ryō or Maria in a time-limited battle against a horde of monsters taking place in 20th century Japan.

The platform game Prehistoric Man let players travel through the Stone Age as Sam the caveman, with the task of returning the town’s stolen food.

The only NES title this month, Fire ‘n Ice (also known as Solomon’s key 2), is a puzzle game in which players must put out flames by kicking or throwing blocks of ice at them.

The release of Psycho Dream, originally called Dream Probe and set for a US release, was originally canceled and was until now an exclusive Japanese. While reviews were initially mixed, the focus of progressing through the game as quickly as possible may strike a chord with speedsters.

The four games are released along with the growing library of NES and SNES games, which players can access via the Nintendo Switch Online Service. The library includes Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Metroid and Star Fox.

The Nintendo Switch Online service also has the ability to create voice chat and cloud saving, enabling players to back up their savings in the cloud if their Nintendo Switch breaks.

Nintendo recently announced a partnership with Burger King, which is releasing the release of six Nintendo-themed free toys as part of Kids and Super Mario Meals.
