Nicole Kidman is known for completely immersing herself in the characters she plays, but her most recent project, “The Undoing”, has really taken a toll on her physical and mental health.
The Oscar winner (53) admitted that the portrayal of Grace, whose husband is on trial for murder, creates a “turmoil” for her personality in the HBO drama.
“Suddenly I was in this place. There was a kind of unrest in my personality where I was uncomfortable, and there was coercion about who I was,” Kidman explained in an episode of the podcast “WTF With Marc Maron.”

The “Big Little Lies” star added how she tries to keep her work separate from her family life, but could not develop a technique to say to my brain and my body, ‘Oh, it’s just acting.’
Kidman plays Grace, a wealthy mother and wife who lives in New York and whose husband (Hugh Grant) is on trial on a murder charge.

“I did not learn to clean it. It does not really work for me,” she described. “I’m going home and I’m not sleeping well, and I’m not going well … It’s so upsetting to me.”
Kidman had earlier said her husband, Keith Urban, and his daughters, Sunday, 12, and Faith, 9, helped ‘bring her back to reality’ while playing Grace, who was ‘a lot of tax’.

“You have to laugh when you do such things. Otherwise it’s just too upsetting,” the Emmy winner told Australia’s ‘Sunrise’ morning show. “I now work almost from a deeper place and so it’s sometimes very stressful.”
Fortunately, Kidman said her family could live in New York while she worked.
“My family was with me, and just having my daughters and Keith and eating with them brings back the immediate reality. Suddenly the boundaries are set,” she described.

Kidman calls the fact that I’m with the family “that place where I can breathe and feel.”
“Keith delivers huge quantities of it and hopefully we provide it for him when he’s on tour, because it’s the benefit of having a family with a close family,” she storms.
