Nicolas Cage confirmed the knot with his girlfriend Riko Shibata, USA Today, confirmed Friday.
The actor (57) married Shibata (26) on February 16 in Las Vegas.
Cage said in a statement to USA Today that “this is true, and we are very happy.”
Shibata also took the name of her new husband, according to their Nevada marriage license, which calls her Riko Cage.
The couple got engaged during a video call in August, Cage told Marc Coppola in his radio program Q104.3 because they were divorced due to the coronavirus pandemic. Cage then sent her a black diamond engagement ring in the mail.
“She left New York and returned to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada and I did not see her for six months,” Cage said on the program. “We’re really happy together and we’m really excited to spend time together, so I ended up just saying, ‘Look, I want to marry you,’ and we got engaged to FaceTime.”
Cage’s marriage to Shibata means his fifth marriage. He was previously married to actress Patricia Arquette between 1995 and 2001, and then Lisa Marie Presley from 2002 to 2004.
His ex-wife Alice Kim, with whom he shares his 15-year-old son Kal-El, was present at the ceremony as the couple are still good friends, a representative told USA Today.
Cage’s fourth marriage did not end so successfully – he filed for annulment with makeup artist Erika Koike in 2019 after four days. Eventually, she sues him for marital support.
