Alabama coach Nick Saban was named the 2020 winner of Bear Bryant Coach of the Year on Wednesday night.
This is the second time Saban has won the award, which has been awarded annually by the American Heart Association since 1986. The first time was in 2003 when he led LSU to a national championship.
The seven other finalists were Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, Texas A & M’s Jimbo Fisher, Coastal Carolina’s Jamey Chadwell, Oregon’s Mario Cristobal, Iowa State’s Matt Campbell and Indiana’s Tom Allen.
Saban joined Gene Stallings in 1992 as Alabama coaches to win.
The award is one of several nationwide named Coach of the Year, but the only one selected after the post-season. Chadwell won the Associated Press Award, the Eddie Robinson Award and the Walter Camp Coach of the Year.
