Saturday was one of the biggest paid international events Pokémon Go offered the Kanto tour. It did not cost $ 11.99 cheaply, and it was a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Pocket Monsters, with the hit game returning to the origins of the series for a four-hour celebration of the OG 151 Pokémon. Except that they accidentally let some people in for free.

Reports apparently indicate (thank you Eurogamer) It was first discovered after the international start time of 09:00 swept through New Zealand and Australia, first captured before the unbridled time wave spread halfway around the world, leaving many people behind a reasonable amount for a single day would pay out. play a little cheesy.

In response, POGO creators Niantic promised a not-yet-detailed “bonus opportunity” for those who paid to play, to try to make up for any hard feelings.

It certainly wasn’t the only thing that went wrong during the day, but after playing the entire 12 hours, I can testify that it was a pretty good time.

Other expenses included a rather difficult period when the game only allows players to use local raids when trying to enter remote attacks, which certainly did me no favors PokeRaid. Plus there was a very delay in the app, with the millions of extra people all online at once.

For most of the day, however, there was a full schedule of tasks and challenges to plow through, with the final prize for the first appearance of Shiny Ditto awaiting the end. This was accompanied by an insane collection of collecting challenges, in which all 151 Pokémon in the Kanto region were available to capture at different times during the day.

It also appears in shiny versions of every Kanto month, including all that have never been released before – and it’s much more likely than usual. Every hour the roster of available Pokémon changed, while raids saw appearances of Moltres (caught bright!), Zapdos (caught bright!), And Articuno (muted sadness, but there is still time). Oh, and yes, MewTwo too. Ahem. Be patient with me …

WHITE GENDER!

Yes, I played with my six-year-old and it was clear to him.

I’m still dealing with his disappointment when he discovered that shiny Ditto notafter all, transforms into the shiny versions of the Pokémon he struggles with. (“But what’s the point then ?! He’s just a different color Ditto!”) Believe me, it’s no consolation to tell him that it’s the same in the console games (bar 3 is said). Rationalization is also not that it would be very good imitation if he had a different color (but pooh about the dumb argument, Redditors, because ordinary Ditto does not mimic shinies!).

However, the completion of the day’s antics unlocked something exciting: the pursuit of a bright Mew. This is no small feat. The first round of challenges required us to get 151 big throws, which we rounded off one day. The second asked us to collect 151 different Pokémon types, plus 30 of each Pokémon type. This is potentially more than 540 catches, although it is significantly reduced by samples that overlap two species. Oh, and to catch Pokémon for 30 consecutive days. This will prevent the grinders from getting there first (but as always enable the Aussies and Kiwis to pack them in front of the rest of the world). I dare not find out what stage 3 might entail.

Keep an eye on Niantic’s social media for information on what the bonus event will be. I really hope it will have another chance to get a shiny Snorlax, because the cuddly animal eludes me like that.
