OKLAHOMA CITY –

Oklahomans are being asked by state leaders to take steps to save energy during the winter storm due to high demand in the region.

Things you can do:

  1. Set the thermostat to 68 or cooler
  2. Switch on or off unnecessary electronics
  3. Avoid using large appliances such as washing machines, dryers and dishwashers

Oklahoma Natural Gas repeated the request.

“Because of the prolonged duration of historically low temperatures, we are seeing that natural gas consumption is much higher, and natural gas prices have risen,” said Kent Shortridge, vice president of Oklahoma Natural Gas. “Although we do not calculate the price of natural gas, these events will have an impact on the bill. At the moment we can not determine what the impact will be.”
