NFL Rumors: Eagles’ Duce Staley Draws’ Interest ‘in Bears Coaching

Could Duce Staley find a new home in Chicago with former colleague Matt Nagy?

According to Bears author Adam Jahns of the Athletic in Chicago, this is possible.

Jahns initially tweeted on Friday afternoon that Staley and Nagy had already talked about a job in the Bears’ coaching staff, but he deleted the tweet and said, “I jumped the gun a little bit,” and then tweeted that Nagy and Staley actually did not speak, but he added: “There is interest.”

Jahns did not specify what role Nagy Staley is considering, but Charles London, who has served as the Bears ‘full-back since 2018, is expected to join the Hawks as the new coach of Arthur Smith as the Bears’ coach. apparently has a vacancy for a running rugby coach.

When Chip replaced Kelly Reid, Staley stayed with the Eagles and Nagy left with Reid for Kansas City, rising from coach to attack coordinator when Doug Pederson replaced Kelly.

There will be many famous faces in Chicago for Staley.

John DeFilippo, QBs coach, was Pederson’s QBs coach in 2016 and 2017. And linebacker coach Bill Shuey has held various roles under Reid since 2010.

Staley, 45, unsuccessfully interviewed for the Eagles’ head coaching job in 2016 and 2021 and for the offensive coordinator vacancy in 2018 and 2020.

The Eagles have not yet officially announced that Nick Sirianni will replace Pederson, and it is not yet known if Sirianni has any interest in keeping Staley on his staff and if there is any role at this stage for which Staley will consider to stay.
