As the quarterback market awaits the fate of Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson, the trade winds start for Sam Darnold with a few teams interested in the former top-five pick. One of those teams already has a franchise quarterback on his scoring stick.

The Seattle Seahawks would be interested in acquiring Darnold from the New York Jets if the franchise does trade Russell Wilson, according to Pat Leonard of The New York Daily News. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has a good opinion of Darnold as the Jets buy the 23-year-old quarterback.

“I think he’s really talented without a doubt,” Carroll said in December. “He has a big throw in him. He’s a real quarterback. He sees things. He makes great plays and big throws in difficult situations because of his talent. It’s just a matter of time. Sam is going to have a “becomes very big QB. He threw a lot of balls in three years. He had a lot of experience. It will pay off in the long run.”

The other notable suitor for Darnold’s services includes the Washington Football Team, just one day after Ryan Fitzpatrick signed a $ 10 million one-year deal. By Connor J. Hughes van The Athletics, Washington has not ruled out a deal for Darnold – but the football team is not willing to go as high as other teams in draft compensation, although there is still interest.

Darnold had his worst season in the NFL in 2020, and he completed just 59.6% of his passes for 2,208 yards and scored nine times to 11 interceptions for a pass rate of 72.7. Of the 35 qualified backs, Darnold ranks 33rd in the completion percentage, 32nd in the touchdown percentage (2.5), 6th place in the distinction percentage (3.0), 32nd place in the attempt per attempt (6.1) and 35th place in the term.

Teams are willing to take a pamphlet on Darnold because of his age and the offensive disability former Gets head coach Adam Gase has endured over the past two seasons. A change of scenery might just be the need for Darnold – and a lower price might drop Darnold the next quarterback domino.
