Uh, NFC East.
According to an NFL talker and former office worker with resources and commitments around the league, the Washington Football Team may be ready for a major fluctuation in Trey Lance, North Dakota.
Here’s what Michael Lombardi of The Athletic said in a recent episode of The GM Shuffle.
“I think Washington is going to be the next team that is going to download all their picks to get a QB,” Lombardi said. ‘I think they love Lance. I don ‘t think I know Washington likes Lance. So will they trade to get Lance? It has yet to be seen. ”
Lance to Washington would not just be a lure in the 2021 NFL draft. That would be enough to scare the Giants, Eagles and Cowboys in the division.

No, Lance is not a lock to be great. But look at any highlight of the 20-year-old, and it’s not hard to see the future. He’s big. He is strong. He can run. He has very good arm strength. Thanks to earlier success in the NFL by former Eagles fullback Carson Wentz, there should not be much concern about the transition to the NFL from the state of North Dakota.
Plus, all he did was win. Lance passed 17-0 as an appetizer in college, with a 28-0-between-between-interception ratio. This is not a typo. That’s the reality. This child, even if he took into account limited playing time due to the pandemic, dominated during his time on the field just as much as any player in this draft.
For Washington, a move like this would be similar to the fact that the Buffalo Bills traded in 2018 to sign Wyoming fullback Josh Allen.
Buffalo, like Washington, was about to make a surprising playoff trip. Buffalo, as now in Washington, was building a culture with a new coach and defensive identity. Winning shootings in the present was not the plan. But for Sean McDermott (ironically a Ron Rivera disciple from the Carolina days), the future was clear: Quarterback had to become a strength to go from solid to great. The bills finally reached it in 2020.
Washington could win the NFC East over the Eagles, Giants and Cowboys in 2021 with Ryan Fitzpatrick or Taylor Heinicke at the center. But we are talking about a division that has not been won by the same team since 2003-04. Washington’s rule over this division would not last without a great fullback.
Dallas currently has the division’s best fullback in Dak Prescott. The Giants are set to enter a make-or-break year with Daniel Jones. Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts has a chance to be the guy, or the Eagles could trade assets for a Russell Wilson or Deshaun Watson. It was easy to dismiss Washington’s future unless a quarter of an hour magically appeared.
The same could be said for the Bills in 2018. Now Allen is a superstar. Lance may be next, and that’s bad news for the rest of this section.
