Newsroom – American reinstroduces Beverage Service as Customers Return to the Skies

FORT WORTH, Texas – From May 1, American Airlines will reintroduce the full liquor service to all domestic premium cabins. From 1 June, liquor service, with canned drinks, juice and water, will begin in the main cabin.

The safety and well-being of customers and flight attendants on board is a top priority for Americans. It was the leading strategy to bring back more airlines in a meticulous and thoughtful way to ensure air hostess and customers feel safe and comfortable. American has worked hand in hand with the Professional Flight Waiters Association (APFA) and medical experts from American’s Travel Health Advisory Panel to determine the safest way to carefully return the food and beverage program.

“Restoring American liquor is a meticulous and informed process to ensure everyone on board feels safe and comfortable,” said Brady Byrnes, vice president of aviation. ‘When customers fly with American, they trust us with their safety. We have worked closely with the union representing our flight attendants, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants and medical experts on this process. Through our partnership, we have jointly determined that the timing is right to bring this service back, and we can do so while still giving peace of mind. ”

Feedback from flight attendants and customers will be carefully considered as more food and beverage service is incrementally introduced.

Customers will also be reminded of the guidelines for face coverage during their trip with American. According to federal guidelines, American requires face masks to be worn at the airport at all times and be able to be on board the aircraft, and this can only be removed briefly while the customer is eating or drinking.

To make flying easier for customers when they return to the air, American will continue to update the travel experience page on aa.com for customers to refer to as they plan future travel, especially as American builds its food and beverage program step by step.
