Long Islanders with underlying health conditions can sign up to be vaccinated Sunday.
The state’s “Am I eligible?” The selection tool has been updated and those with pre-existing conditions and comorbidities can enroll to be vaccinated at distributed centers in Nassau and Suffolk provinces.
The new appointments will be released on an ongoing basis.
The fitness applies to people such as cancer, obesity, heart and neurological conditions, pregnancy and more.
Applicants must provide proof of their condition in the form of a doctor’s letter, medical proof of affiliation or a signed certification.
With limited availability, Patchogue resident Richard Parker says it takes a lot of work to get a vaccine appointment.
“It was a small test this morning,” Parker said. ‘There were four phones and two computers going on, and we finally got it. Personally, I feel a little more relieved that I am getting the vaccine now and that I have an underlying condition. I feel a little more confident, a little safer. ‘

Local health departments are expected to receive the distribution of vaccines for people with pre-existing conditions.
