New York Young Republicans Plan ‘Re-Occupy Wall Street’

They’re young, they’re Republican – and they love hell on Wall Street.

Members of the New York Young Republicans plan to storm Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan on Sunday for a “Re-Occupy Wall Street” demonstration to protest protests by hedge funds and other financial institutions this week by populist purchases of GameStop shares by To undermine Reddit.

‘What we’ve seen over the last few days has been absolutely despicable. “A lot of people are angry,” Gavin Wax, group president, told The Post. “We have the elite and the substrata of everyone who does not sit with the grandson and earn the grandson money.”

GameStop, a dusty retailer of video games and electronics, saw shares rise more than 1,700 percent as amateur day traders poured cash into the stock to try to dispute Wall Street short sellers from the company’s failure. The move was initially organized by the RedStit page WallStreetBets.

As stocks soared and hedge funds faced billions in losses, several trading programs moved to prevent additional sales of the stock. One – named RobinHood – has filed a lawsuit.

“I do think they should be prosecuted. Many of these guys have to go to jail. Text messages and e-mails must be seized. It is coordinated. There must be consequences, ‘Wax said of the institutional effort to close amateur traders.

Wax’s GOP rally is ironically trying to regain the energy of the 2011 Occupy Wall Street protests – which left mostly left-wingers turning the park into a quasi-homeless camp, which collapsed the city for months.

An invitation from the Eventbrite that was quickly thrown together calls YR members and travelers to come around the park in the afternoon. “Bring plates and dress warmly,” reads the invitation.

But Wax said it would not become an overnight place like the old days.

“We have work to check on Monday,” he said. “It will be nice and tidy. We will bathe. ‘
