The head coach of the New York Giants, Joe Judge, again leaned in his Alabama commitments and appointed Russ Callaway as offensive assistant.
Callaway spent the 2020 season as an offensive analyst at LSU. He was offensive coordinator at Samford from 2016-19, wide receiving coach at Murray State in 2013 and 2014, and spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons in Alabama as a defensive analyst. Judge was in Alabama from 2009-2011 as a special team assistant.
Coach Burton Burns, attack coach Rob Sale, offensive assistant Jody Wright, senior defense assistant Jeremy Pruitt, coach Kevin Sherrer and special projects coach Amos Jones all have ties to Alabama.
This is what LSU coach Ed Orgeron said about Callaway when LSU appointed him:
“Russ had a great experience at Samford, was an excellent coordinator, did a lot of good things,” LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said during the fall. “But he’s hungry. He has been to big schools. I did not know how good he was, to be honest with you, until we found him. And his enthusiasm is contagious. He is an excellent coach and has learned and learned well through his father. I believe the man is going to be a coordinator and a head coach, and it will not take long because he is one of those kind of minds. He is a good worker. … Has a bright future ahead of him. ‘
