New vaccination sites in Lake County include Lake Square Mall, Amazon Warehouse

LANDLAND, Fla. The Lake Square Mall and an Amazon Distribution parking lot will house the latest vaccination sites for the coronavirus department of Lake County, the Department of Health, the agency announced Tuesday.

The new mall is operated by the DOH in partnership with Lake County Emergency Management and offers shots to frontline health workers and Florida residents 65 and older.

To make an appointment, eligible individuals can call 866-201-6909 or 833-476-1031 for people with hearing impairments. The Lake County Board of County Commissioners said Tuesday the province is now participating in the state-run vaccination system using the number.

Appointments begin Wednesday at 8 a.m. at the new site in the old Sears department store. Only the first week the first doses are offered on the walk-in site.

“We want to remind the public that our vaccination plan is long-term,” the DOH said in a news release. “Individuals who are unable to receive a vaccine during this first phase will have an opportunity to continue our efforts.”

People must be able to show Florida’s residency by identifying or taking with them two other items, including housing documents or an account, which show that you live in Florida for more than 30 days a year.

The Florida Department of Health in Lake County on Tuesday with the administration of the second doses of the Moderna vaccine at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mount Dora begins to administer. The site does not offer the first doses, but only the stimulus for people who received their first Moderna survey at a vaccination site in Lake County.

Later in the day, the county of DOH announced that the second doses will be administered to those who need their Pfizer booster shot at an Amazon distribution site in Groveland. The website also offers first doses in the morning, but afternoon seats will be reserved for those who need the booster.

“Drive and park for a vaccination; the afternoon space is for second doses only,” according to a news release.

Once the parking lot reaches capacity, the line will be close to new traffic.

The Groveland website opens Wednesday at 8 a.m. at Republic Drive 7453.

People who previously had their first shot in Lake County, both Pfizer and Moderna, will be contacted by the department for an appointment for their second shot.

According to the DOH vaccine report, Lake County administered more than 32,000 first doses of the vaccine as of Monday. According to the report, more than 2,300 people in the country have completed their vaccination with the booster.
