‘New’ recommendations from Shawnee Co.’s health officer

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A Shawnee County Health Department news release has issued ‘new recommendations’ on combating the spread of COVID-19 in Shawnee County.

These ‘new recommendations’ are to continue with ‘social distance and the use of face masks or other face masks’. As of Monday, there were 17,232 positive cases, 1,020 probable cases and 356 deaths of Shawnee County residents reported. Both the UK original variant (B.1.1.7) and the California variant (B.1.429) have now been documented in Shawnee County.

According to the Department of Health, the recommendations focus on the primary components that have been shown to have the greatest impact on reducing the spread of COVID-19.
