New Radicals was reunited for the first time in 22 years during a virtual event celebrating President Joe Biden’s inauguration today (January 20).
The Los Angeles Orchestra is best known for their hit single ‘You Get What You Give’ in 1998, but were separated only a few months after its release.

“When we heard ‘You Get What You Give’ is a Biden song, we promised that Joe would come along and play our little song – in memory and in honor of our new president’s country son Beau,” Gregg said. Alexander said he would introduce the performance.

Alexander added that he hoped Biden would “be able to bring our country back together” and added: “Joe, Kamala – it’s for you.”
The Biden Inauguration Committee posted the live reunion on Twitter (see above) and said: ‘We are honored that the New Radicals have been reunited for this moment (with one of [Second Gentleman] Doug Emhoff’s favorite songs!) ”
Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, chose ‘You Get What You Give’ as his opening song during the 2020 presidential campaign. President Biden had earlier described it as the ‘theme song’ of his late son Beau.
“During breakfast, Beau regularly made me listen to what I thought was his New Radicals theme song ‘You Get What You Give,'” Biden wrote in his 2018 memoir. Promise me, Dad.
Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters and Katy Perry are scheduled to perform Four America live stream later tonight. During the inauguration ceremony, Lady Gaga sang the American national anthem before Jennifer Lopez performed a variety of songs.
