Rowan Atkinson is working on a new animated Mr. Bean feature film to develop, but the actor says he is ready to retire from playing the character.
Actor Rowan Atkinson will return to his iconic role as Mr Bean for an animated film about the character. Atkinson is an English actor who has starred in various sitcom projects Blackadder to the comedy movie franchise Johnny Engels. But perhaps none of his characters are better known as the protagonists of the slapstick sitcom, Mr Bean.
During the 1990s, Atkinson played the character Mr. Bean, a bumpy, boring man who has the ability to end up in unusual situations. The Mr Bean series was incredibly popular and eventually received a long feature film. The program was even adapted into a short animated series in the early 2000s. Now it looks like Atkinson is returning to the world of animation for an animated film about Mr. Bean.

In an interview with Deadline, Atkinson explained that he was compiling an animation Mr Bean movie. This format actually looks better for both the Mr. Bean character and the actor who plays him. Atkinson, however, told interviewers Mr Bean important to his career, he does not really play the character in a live action environment. ‘It’s easier for me to interpret the character vocally than visually. I do not like to play him. The weight of responsibility is not pleasant, “ Atkinson says. With an animated film, the responsibility to Mr. Bean play so much easier for Atkinson to carry. Atkinson also mentioned that he will soon finish playing Mr. Bean wants to be and that he is looking forward to the end of his time with the character.
The move to animation is not only a good step for Atkinson, but also for the Mr Bean franchise as a whole. With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the entire film and television industry has experienced significant delays for live action. Although these delays are unfortunate, animators have left the space to step in and create new stories without any health risk. The animated Mr Bean film will be just one of the many films that follow this trend.
Based on the way he talks about his relationship with Mr. Bean character speaking, it is possible that this animated film may be the last Mr Bean project starring Atkinson. It is clear that the actor is ready to move away from his old roles and to new projects. This does not mean that the franchise is dead, because the character can always be brought back by another actor. But if Atkinson believes, it could be his last step in the Mr Bean sage.
