SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials on Thursday announced 263 additional COVID-19 cases. According to the State Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 92 new businesses in Bernalillo County
- 1 new case in Chaves County
- 10 New Businesses in Cibola County
- 2 new businesses in Curry County
- 40 new businesses in Doña Ana Province
- 10 New Businesses in Eddy County
- 5 new businesses in Grant County
- 6 New Businesses in Lea County
- 1 new case in Los Alamos County
- 1 new case in Luna County
- 13 New Businesses in Otero County
- 2 new cases in Rio Arriba County
- 21 new businesses in Sandoval County
- 4 new businesses in San Juan County
- 7 New Businesses in San Miguel County
- 14 new businesses in Santa Fe County
- 1 new case in Taos County
- 1 new case in Torrance County
- 23 new businesses in Valencia County
- 1 new case among inmates of the Department of Corrections in New Mexico at the correctional facility in New Mexico in the province of Valencia
- 1 new case among inmates in the Department of Corrections in New Mexico at the Correctional Facility in Lea County
- 7 new cases among inmates of the Department of Corrections in New Mexico at the correctional facility in New Mexico in the province of Doña Ana
The Department of Health on Thursday reported five additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19:
- A woman in her 60s from Bernalillo County. The individual was a resident of the South Valley Care Center in Albuquerque.
- A female in her 70s from Chaves County. The individual had underlying conditions.
- A second woman in her 70s from Chaves County. The individual was admitted to the hospital and had underlying conditions.
- A female in her 40s from San Juan County. The individual was admitted to the hospital and had underlying conditions.
- A man in his 60s from Santa Fe County. The individual was admitted to the hospital.
The number of deaths of New Mexico residents associated with COVID-19 is now 3,877.

Daily case counts and test numbers are raw data based on information received by the state today – meaning that data have not yet been examined to identify potential duplicates or positive or negative aspects. In contrast, the Red Yellow-Green analysis provides a very accurate picture for a period of two weeks.
Previously reported numbers included nine cases identified as duplicates (seven in Bernalillo County, two in San Juan County); two cases not confirmed in the laboratory (one in Doña Ana County, one in Santa Fe County); and one in Santa Fe County who is determined to be a foreigner – that’s right now. Including the above newly reported cases, New Mexico now had a total of 189,158 COVID-19 cases:

Today, there are 138 individuals admitted to New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 outside the state but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This number does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and who may have been transferred to a hospital outside the state.

The Department of Health has tracked down community distribution in the state of New Mexico and is investigating cases without it being known. The agency reports that given the contagious nature of the virus it is likely that other residents are infected, but that it has not yet been tested or positively confirmed. With that end in sight, all New Mexicans have been instructed to stay at home except for outings that are absolutely essential for health, safety and well-being. These additional restrictions have been put in place to aggressively restrict person-to-person contact and to ensure that distribution is mitigated. New Mexicans are strongly encouraged to limit travel to only what is necessary for health, safety and well-being.
The New Mexico Department of Health conducted active investigations into the positive patients, which included contact detection and swabs of symptomatic individuals who had contact with the positive cases.
Every New Mexican must work together to stop the spread of COVID-19. Stay home, especially if you are sick. Wear a mask or face mask when in public and around others.
New Mexicans who report symptoms of COVID-19 infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, cold fever, recurrent chills, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea and / or loss of taste or smell should immediately healthcare provider or call the NMDOH COVID-19 hotline (1-855-600-3453).
The Department of Health strongly encourages the following groups to be tested:
- Symptomatic people who have COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, recurrent chills, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea and / or loss of taste or smell;
- Asymptomatic people who have close contact or are domestic members of people in their infectious period who have already tested positive for the coronavirus;
- Asymptomatic people living in congregations, such as long-term care facilities and group homes, living or working;
- Patients scheduled for surgery, and whose provider advised them to be tested before the procedure.
