New images show the extent to which the migrant facility in Donna, Texas has expanded over the past few weeks as authorities scramble to find space to house an overwhelming surge of minors across the border.

The Donna facility has led to some of the most iconic images so far of the crisis, with reporters and lawmakers taking photos of migrants crammed into overcrowded facilities as authorities struggled to process them.

More than 4,000 migrants in detention were seen packed in ‘pods’; each pod contains 500-600 migrants. According to guidelines, there may not be more than 32 people in each pod.

Fox News’ aircraft drone took pictures of the Donna facility in March and Wednesday, showing that the facility has expanded over the past few weeks.

This is one of a number of moves by the Biden government to deal with the influx. The Department of Health and Human Services announced earlier this month that it will open an emergency inlet in Donna to accommodate up to 1,500 teenagers near the Center for Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

In a statement, the agency said that while working on capacity building, ‘additional capacity is urgently needed to manage the increasing numbers’ of migrant children. It is said that the website is intended as a temporary measure.

Biden’s government has denied that the situation at the border is a ‘crisis’ and calls it a ‘challenge’ – and blames the Trump administration for scaling down legal asylum routes.

Republicans accused the Biden government of fueling the crisis by ending Trump-era border policies such as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) and ending the construction of the wall on the southern border.
