New details emerged on Friday about the employees’ decision not to prosecute the charges against Jeffrey Epstein in 2016 – when a number of lawyers warned that he was still abusing girls.
Documents released Friday in the sex trafficking case against the late millionaire pedophile’s friend Ghislaine Maxwell show that lawyers for one of his accused, Virginia Giuffre, told prosecutors at the time that the British were regularly sexually explicit. took pictures of the younger woman. and even one given to Epstein for his birthday – when Virginia was 16.
The discussion took place during a February 2016 meeting between a U.S. attorney in New York and a trio of attorneys representing Giuffre.
At the time, Epstein had already pleaded guilty in 2007 to charges of state prostitution in Florida, but he escaped acquitted charges of federal sex trafficking through a controversial agreement without prosecution.

At the meeting, Giuffee’s lawyers set out a series of accusations against Epstein and Maxwell, including the alleged nude birthday photo of minors, according to notes by the prosecutor included in the documents.
After the meeting – which was held in a federal building in Lower Manhattan – the prosecutor, identified as “AK”, spoke with the head of the criminal department in the southern district of New York about the possibility of prosecuting Epstein to continue.
“One thing that leaned in favor of action was that one of the attorneys … said that FBI agents in the Florida case were not happy with the outcome and how the case was resolved,” the prosecutor later said. according to the documents recalled.

After talking to the head of the crime department, the prosecutor decided to call a senior officer in the FBI to ask him to ask the agents in Florida if they felt that ‘justice had not been done’.
The FBI honcho did not respond – and the prosecutor “took the radio silence to mean that the FBI agents in Florida did not express dissatisfaction”, according to the documents.
No investigation was launched in 2016 – and Epstein remained free until a series of damning articles on sex abuse in the Miami Herald put him back on the federation’s radar.
He was charged with sex trafficking in 2019, but later died by suicide in a lower jail cell in Manhattan.

Maxwell was arrested for the care and sex trafficking of underage girls due to Epstein being abused in the 1990s and early 2000s. She maintains her innocence.
The documents, which were not sealed Friday, were included in legal submissions filed by federal authorities, who protested against a number of Maxwell proposals in her federal court sentence in Manhattan.
