AUSTIN, Texas (AP) New cases of the COVID-19 in Texas took a sharp drop in their total according to the state number on Friday.
The Texas Department of Health Services reported 3,521 new cases on Friday, 852 fewer than the previous day. The addition of 53 previously unreported cases brought the state’s pandemic to 2,739,385.
The state also reported the least number of COVID-19 surveys since Oct. 10 at 3,752 as of Thursday, the most recent total available. The estimate of active cases decreased by 1,099 to 107,597.
According to Johns Hopkins University researchers, the 158 new COVID-19 deaths reported Friday increased the death toll from the state’s pandemic to 47,193. The researchers also said that the moving average daily new cases have dropped by almost 3,003 cases over the past two weeks, which has decreased by 41%.
