Nevada reports 659 COVID cases, 23 deaths, 14.8 positivity rate

Nevada reported 659 additional cases of coronavirus and 23 deaths during the preceding day on Wednesday.

Updated figures from the Department of Health and Human Services published on the state’s coronavirus website brought the total number to 285,795 cases and 4,582 deaths.

New cases were slightly above the moving 14-day average of 650 daily recorded cases. However, deaths remained above the 15-day moving average of 15 weeks.

The positivity rate of the state, which mainly follows the percentage of people tested for COVID-19 who are confirmed to be infected, dropped to 14.8 percent – a decrease of 0.5 percentage point from the previous day. The rate has been declining steadily since reaching a high of 21.7 percent on January 13th.

As of Wednesday, there are 922 people hospitalized in Nevada with suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 49 less than the previous day, state data shows. Data may vary from day to day, but government officials reported that the total number of hospitalizations has declined in recent weeks, particularly in the northern region of the state.

Clark County reported 602 new cases of coronavirus and 16 additional deaths on Wednesday, according to information published on the Coronavirus website in southern Nevada.

The updated figures brought cumulative totals for the country to 220,204 cases and 3,525 deaths.

The province’s positive two-week rate fell 0.5 percentage points from the previous day to 16.2 percent on Wednesday, or 1.4 percentage points higher than the state’s rate.
