Nevada reports 203 new cases of coronavirus, three deaths

Nevada public health officials on Monday reported 203 new cases of coronavirus and three additional deaths.

Updated numbers from the state Department of Health and Human Services brought Nevada’s cumulative totals to 296,393 cases and 5,040 deaths.

The two-week positivity rate, a key disease indicator that infects the percentage of people tested for affected COVID-19, remains unchanged at 6.5 percent from the previous day, according to state data. Nevada’s positivity rate has been falling since mid-January, when it peaked at 21.6 percent.

New cases were below the state’s moving average of 143 days out of 263 cases per day. In the same period, Nevada averaged six deaths per day.

Health officials in many rural provinces have pulled away from weekend work, often resulting in weekends and Mondays lower than typical numbers, the COVID-19 response director said.

The Nevada Hospitals Association has reported that the state is pursuing a downward trajectory of hospitalizations due to COVID-19, according to a news release. The hospital association said as of Monday’s report, 343 people had been admitted to hospital with confirmed or suspected cases of the disease.

Meanwhile, Clark County officials reported 141 new cases, bringing the local cumulative total to 228,806 cases. The three deaths reported to the state Monday were from Clark County, which pushed the local death toll to 3,934. The Clark County scores are included in the total total country.

The province’s two-week positivity rate remained unchanged at 7.1 percent from the previous day.
