Networks struggle in Texas amid historic winter storms

Much of Texas has been hit by a historic cold front, leaving many people without power and affecting the Internet and cell phone services in the state.

Downdetector shows nails in user reports for T-Mobile and AT&T from Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and the surrounding areas.

“We are experiencing network problems after severe weather in different parts of the state and especially in Texas,” said Tille’s technical president Neville Ray. said in a tweet. “Our teams are working hard to restore service.”

In response to a customer service issue in Meadows Place, Texas, AT & T’s Support Account said “our team is already working on a resolution, carry it along.”

Verizon tells The edge that “Verizon’s network is performing well as winter storms hit their nationwide track, with limited impact on our network operations.” “In some pockets in the country, however, power outages have an effect on the fiber we use to provide connections from every cell site to our switch,” the company said. “Restoration teams have already begun to restore the fiber assets’ strength.”

Some ISPs have also said that customers may experience problems due to the difficult weather.

“Spectrum customers in Texas are experiencing service outages related to the winter weather causing commercial power outages and cut-off lines,” Spectrum said in a tweet.

Grande Communications, an Internet, TV and telephone provider in Texas, responded to many customers and asked for updates on Twitter to say that his crew is working to restore services “as quickly as possible”.

Downdetector will show user reports of problems with Spectrum, Grande and Suddenlink starting Monday afternoon.
