In a series of early morning moves after their big win over the Kings, the Nets of Norvel Pelle gave up and agreed to sign Andre Roberson, a 6’7 “defensive specialist. Pelle has been with the Nets since January 28 and has appeared in three games.

Before Iman Shumpert was signed, the Brooklyn Nets considered a deal with veteran forward Andre Roberson, sources said. The Nets saw Roberson as a wing signing who could provide defense and experience. Roberson showed the Nets that he is healthy and moving well. In seven NBA seasons, Roberson has averaged. 4.5 points and four rebounds per game, making the All-Defensive second team in 2017.
Roberson, 29, missed a serious knee injury for 30 months before rejoining the Thunder in the ‘bubble’ where he played seven games, which is a minimal number. The 29-year-old is the sister of Arielle Roberson, Dinwiddie’s longtime friend. Dinwiddie and Roberson were also teammates in Colorado.
In addition, Roberson was a teammate of Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City for three years. James Harden was traded to Houston ahead of Roberson’s rookie season in Oklahoma City in 2013-14.
There is no word on Shumpert. He is recovering from a hamstring injury, but his contract is not guaranteed, and the Nets will have to decide whether to keep him on February 24th. As Scotto reports that Roberson is not guaranteed, the Nets still have five players – out of 17 – whose contracts could expire in eight days.
