Netflix wants to make a GameStop stock movie

According to a Deadline report, Netflix is in the process of making a movie based on the Wall Street GameStop share.

Mark Boal, the author of Detroit and Triple Frontier, is in negotiations to write the untitled film. Noah Centineo, the actor behind the teen sad role in many Netflix movies like To all the boys I’ve loved before, will play a major role. No other cast roles were announced.

Note that this project is different from the news that MGM has acquired the rights to a not yet written book by Ben Mezrich about the GameStop share. These are two separate films.

GameStop’s share price remains volatile after a week in which it shot to a high of $ 347.51, gaining the attention of the mainstream news. The price fluctuates wildly due to a tug of war between institutional investors who are shorting the stock, and Reddit-organized day traders are determined to hold on to their shares and raise the price.

As of the time of publication, the share price was $ 249.11, which was more than ten times its value earlier this month. The increase in people buying short-selling shares has continued with other businesses such as AMC and Nokia.

The brokerage app Robinhood, which was a favorite tool of the so-called “meme stock” traders, started restricting the purchases of said shares last week. But shareholders are encouraging each other to keep sending $ GME to the moon.
