Netflix will stop streaming to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U devices later this year. In a support document noted by EurogamerNintendo says the company will discontinue support for the two consoles on June 30, 2021 (this happens to be the same day Minecraft Earth is turned off). Netflix has already removed its app from the eShop, making it impossible to download unless it’s already linked to your account. Once you have the software installed on your console, you can continue streaming content from Netflix until the end of June. Then you should look at other options if the Wii U or 3DS is your primary way to access the platform.
Who can influence this shutdown? Probably the same desperate souls who access Pornhub through their 3DS and Wii U. These are more people than you think, but far from a significant number. More than anything, the move is likely to highlight the fact that you can still not download Netflix on the Nintendo Switch, although it is much more popular than the Wii U and better suited for mobile viewing than the 3DS.
