Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has contributed tens of thousands of dollars to California Gavin Newsom’s campaign to remove the Democrat from office and closer to the required number of signatures to secure a midterm election.
Hastings was listed for $ 32,400 and $ 29,600, respectively, for two donations for Newsom’s 2022 campaign on Friday.
Hastings’ wife, Patricia Ann Quillin, donated the same amount.
Netflix is headquartered in California, and Hastings and Quillin are also said to live there.

Meanwhile, the campaign to recall Newsom has reached more than 1.4 million signatures. While mid-March only 1.5 million are needed to hold a special election, the campaign is hopeful that they will comfortably exceed that number.
“We are in the red zone on the ten-meter line,” Randy Economy, senior adviser and official media spokesperson for the campaign, said in a statement this week.
It’s not uncommon for California residents to recall, but they rarely get on the ballot, and even less pass. Several others launched against Newsom have faded.

However, people may be particularly dissatisfied with Newsom this year, who has been criticized over a number of recent events, including for violating his own strict coronavirus restrictions when he attended an indoor dinner party late last year. The participants in the expensive restaurant meeting sat close by and did not wear masks.
The governor of California finally apologized for the incident and considered it a ‘bad mistake’.
Economy suggests that supporters of the movement believe the governor is mismanaging the coronavirus situation, adding that many small business owners in the state – such as restaurant and boutique store owners – have completely lost their livelihoods, while large stores such as Target , allowed to remain open.
Newsom “put corporate interests ahead of the people of California,” Economy said.
Gray Davis, who was recalled in 2003, was the first governor to be recalled in 1921 in the United States. Davis was eventually replaced by Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former bodybuilder and actor.
If the repeal were eligible, Newsom would be forced to repel competitors amid a pandemic that cost the state millions of jobs, depleted the government coffers and set up lives for nearly 40 million people.
