Netflix and the creators of Outer Banks have accused author KW Wooten of ‘stealing’ their teenage drama
Independently published author KW Wooten allegedly accused Netflix and the creators of Outer Banks of ‘stealing’ the plot of their teenage drama, which began on April 15.
In 2016, Wooten released Pennywise: The Hunt for Blackbeard’s Treasure! about four young adults who discovered buried treasures from a legendary shipwreck off the outer shore of North Carolina.

K. (first name Kevin) noted that co-creators Jonas & Josh Pate said they got the inspiration for Outer Banks while living in Wilmington, where he published hard copies of Pennywise.
Wooten demands that the creators (including Shannon Burke) add a title card in the opening credits that highlights him and his Goonies-style novel, and he is also after damages.
Meanwhile, the cast and crew of Outer Banks have been working hard on filming the second season of the adventure mystery.
