Nestlé-prepared food reminds of the not-ready-to-eat-Pepperoni product, due to possible contamination abroad

WASHINGTON, 15 JANUARY 2021– Nestlé Prepared Foods, a mountain Sterling, Ky. Institution, recalling approximately 762,615 pounds of non-ready-to-eat (NRTE) pepperoni hot bag product that may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically pieces of glass and hard plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Food Inspection (FSIS) Food Safety today made known.

The frozen NRTE pepperoni hot bag product was manufactured from 13 November 2020 to 16 November 2020. The product has a shelf life of 14 months. The following product may be recalled: [View Labels (PDF Only)]:

  • 54-oz carton packaging containing 12 “Nestlé HOT POCKETS BRAND SANDWICHES: PREMIUM PEPPERONI MADE WITH PORK, COOKING & BEEF PIZZA GARLIC BUTTERY CRUST” has a “BEST BEFORE FEB 2022” date and lot codes, 0318544624, 0318544624

The product subject to recall contains the establishment number “EST. 7721A ”within the USDA certification mark. The product has been shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The problem was discovered when the firm received four consumer complaints of foreign matter in the pepperoni hot bag product.

The firm received one report of a minor oral injury related to the consumption of this product. FSIS has not received any additional reports of injuries or illnesses due to the consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be frozen and in the freezers of consumers. Consumers who have purchased this product are requested not to consume it. This product must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS regularly conducts recall effectiveness investigations to verify that recall firms are notifying their customers and that steps are being taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers.
