Neo: The World Ends With You is three years after the anime show and new information is coming next week

Recently, director Tatsuya Kando called Neo: The World Ends With You, the sequel to the 2007 Nintendo DS title The World Ends With You, during a special program that aired before the premiere of the anime. He said that Neo will be playing three years after the events of the anime.

Producer Tetsuya Nomura also said on Twitter that more information regarding the game will be released on April 9, just before the first episode of the anime airs on the same day at 3pm JPT. This is the first time that Neo gets new information since the animation was first announced in November 2020.

An official trailer of the announcement was accompanied by the announcement of the title. The trailer featured a brand new protagonist and cast of characters, as well as the much more expansive environment of Shibuya that is ripe for exploration. Neo: The World Ends With You is currently slated to launch this summer 2021 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

The creative producer and main character designer of the original The World Ends With You, Tetsuya Nomura, has since wanted to develop at least one sequel. He said at the time that the Final Mix remaster of the game, which came out for Nintendo Switch, was the ‘last chance to create a path to the next step, about which I have had ideas since its first launch 11 years ago.’
