LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – The Department of Health and Human Services in Nebraska on Thursday listed the high-risk medical conditions that would qualify ages 18-65 for a COVID-19 vaccine during Phase 1B of distribution.
The conditions listed include:
- Asthma
- Cancer (currently has cancer)
- Cerebrovascular diseases affecting blood vessels
- Chronic kidney disease
- Chronic liver disease
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
- Cystic fibrosis
- Chronic lung disease
- Type 1 diabetes
- Type 2 diabetes
- Down syndrome
- Heart conditions such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathy
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Neurological conditions (such as dementia)
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Sickle cell disease
- Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
- Weakened immune system due to solid organ transplantation (kidney, liver, pancreas, heart or lung)
- Weakened immune system from blood or bone marrow transplantation, HIV, using steroids or other medicines
The state also announced that it will receive 21% more COVID-19 vaccinations this week to promote distribution around the world. The additional 9,550 doses will bring the expected vaccine delivery to 55,950 this week, up from 46,400 a week ago.
The state’s 19 local health districts are completing the first phase of the campaign, with the priority of health workers and residents of long-term care facilities, and they are working to vaccinate those aged 65 and over as well as some essential workers.
