Maine (WABI) – Nine more people in Maine have lost their lives with COVID-19, according to the latest figures released by the Maine CDC.

In addition, 599 new cases are reported.

That brings the total number of cases in our state to 26,565 since the pandemic began.

Of these, 22,448 are confirmed.

Three of the deaths reported on Tuesday, Jan. 5, occurred in York County. There were two in the counties of Cumberland and Aroostook. Both Kennebec and Somerset report one coronavirus-related death.

It has brought total deaths since March to 369.

The County County again saw the most new cases compared to other counties. There have been 163 more recorded since Monday.

Cumberland County has 84 new businesses, 71 in Androscoggin County.

There were 64 new cases recorded in Penobscot County, 43 in Kennebec County.

Washington County sees 11 new cases, 18 in Franklin County and 14 in Somerset County.

Waldo County with two and Knox County have taken up just one new case since Monday, according to the Maine CDC.
