Nearly 2 million Americans received COVID-19 vaccine

ORLANDO, Fla. As the vaccinations continue this week, almost 2 million doses of vaccine have been administered across the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over the past two weeks.

U.S. officials said their goal was to vaccinate 20 million people by the end of December, though health experts believe the timeline could fall short as the new year is just a few days away.

“There is no doubt that things are going a little slower than we would like. I think we really need to increase the vaccinations. Bring the vaccines to states, but also get the vaccines from the states into people’s arms, ”said Dr Ashish Jha of Brown University’s School of Public Health.

The Trump administration, through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense, last week announced the purchase of 100 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Florida DOH Vaccination Report, 118,764 vaccinations have been administered in the state so far.

In Orange County, data showed that 11,963 people were vaccinated.
