Nearly 12,000 COVID-19 vaccine appointments could open in Tucson on Tuesday morning

TUCSON (KVOA) – While vaccination continues, there’s a new option if you get a chance.

The Arizona Department of Health Services says nearly 12,000 vaccination appointments will be available by 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The current rural site at the University of Arizona will be taken over by the state from Thursday.

The premises have vaccinated those in priority phase 1B since 19 January. Their hope is to eventually turn it into a 24-hour operation, just like in Glendale at State Farm Stadium. At full capacity, it can deliver nearly 6,000 vaccinations per day.

Since it will be a state-owned website, Arizonan’s age 65 and older can register. In addition, you can register for a vaccine from the website if you are eligible for Phase 1A and Priority 1B. Arizonans from around the state can also be managed by the state to come to Tucson for the vaccine.

“We need the university pool to be successful for all of us,” said Peres County Department of Health Director Theresa Cullen. “The concern is currently being given because the resource constraints are now the right time to make the decision; it is clear that the state is currently thinking that it is.”

When the Pima County Department of Health spoke to the state, they said that 6% of the people who received the vaccine came from one of Maricopa’s state-owned premises in the province.

The state received more than 176,000 doses of vaccine this week. Pima County should see about 16,330 of them.

Arizona President Robert Robbins said 1,000 doses of Moderna would be on the campus and would not plunge into the province’s supply. More details about the website can be found here.

If you are eligible, you can report your vaccination to podvaccine.azdhs.gov. A Spanish version of the site will also be available. And if you need a little more help, you can call 844-542-8201.
