CBS Strydros NCIS will be back for a 19th season – though it may contain less Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
The network announced on Thursday that it has renewed its feature drama for season 19 The Hollywood Reporter, original cast and executive producer Mark Harmon shall be back as the special leader Gibbs, the team leader, but it has not yet been determined how many episodes will include him. Similarly, a delivery of episodes for season 19 has not yet been completed.
As revealed at the end of the series on March 16, Gibbs was suspended indefinitely by director Leon Vance after brutally assaulting a suspected dog abuser.
Harmon’s word may have been reduced NCIS presence twisted during the sister series NCIS: New Orleans‘cancellation. THR.com reported that Harmon, with its expiration this spring, is ready to call it a day and hang its NCIS cap with stitched logo. But when he learned that by doing so, he would end the motherhood series as a whole and many people would lose their jobs, and he began to speak in a limited capacity.
Meanwhile, new for season 19 is the series Katrina Law (Hawaii Five-0, Arrow), which appears for the first time in the last two episodes of this season. She will play NCIS REACT special agent Jessica Knight, a “formidable” woman specializing in hostage negotiations. Raised by a single parent and married to a stay-at-home father raising their baby son, Jessica is described as ‘sharp, athletic, tough’ and ‘extremely stubborn’, but she also possesses a ‘wry sense of humor’. ”
Law’s cast comes on the heels of Maria Bello NCIS after three seasons as forensic psychologist Jack Sloane. (In the March 2 episode, Jack decided to stay in Afghanistan after completing an operation to help the local community.)
NCIS was one of five CBS series that aired Thursday SWAT, Blue Bloods, Magnum PI and Bull.
