The Washington Wizards lost 133-130 to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night, where they are now 0-5 this season.
Thomas Bryant was very effective on the attack tonight. He scored 22 of his 28 points in the first half, where he shot 8-of-8 from the field. He eventually shot 10-out-11 overall.
Rui Hachimura also came back in this game in his debut for the 2020-21 season. He scored 17 points, including 15 in the first half while playing 25 minutes.
The first half of this game can be characterized as a story of no defense. The Wizards took a nine-point lead of nine points in the first quarter and finished 41-35 ahead before the second quarter began. But in the second quarter, the lead disappeared when Washington was on track with a 71-68 deficit at halftime.
Although the Wizards quickly took the lead in the third quarter, the Bulls still managed to come back and they did some. And then again in the fourth quarter after returning with a backlog to have a 123-118 lead, with just over four minutes to go after Raul Neto tapped a three-pointer. He had 15 points and was the only major contributor in Washington. Davis Bertans would have been pointless if he had not made three free throws (for 3 points).
But then Zach made LaVine ride layups and a ton of free throws the piece off. Wizards alum and “Everybody Eats” leader Otto Porter also fired late on his way to a 28-point night and shot 10-out-14 from the field. He also grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out three assistants.
Bradley Beal still had 28 points and Russell Westbrook had a triple-double, but who cares when the Wizards lose again !? I’m just tired of writing the same text every day.
The Wizards play the Minnesota Timberwolves tomorrow night. Tip is at 20:00 ET. And while we’re busy, I’ll be as straightforward as I can say: The Wizards need to fire Scott Brooks to have the chance to save this season!
See you tomorrow. And enjoy the Rockets vs. Kings game tonight with an old friend if you can see it.
